The In-Service Training for teachers and non-teaching personnel was held last October 27-30, 2009 at the Audio-Visual Room of DepEd-Marikina which primarily aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the participants in the use of ICT related programs and software needed in their job.
The participants in this training were selected teachers and non-teaching personnel from both public elementary and secondary schools of the Division of Marikina City. The proposed INSET is anchored in the Five-Year ICT for Education Strategic Plan of the Department of Education and in the Division Website Project. The Schools Division INSET aims to provide an opportunity for ICT learning of teachers including non-teaching personnel. It supports the promotion of ICT integration in the teaching and learning process to cope with fast-changing technology. It also enhances the knowledge and skills of the participants in the use of ICT tools like Office applications and Internet. It also trains teachers and office staffs who can help in the actual implementation of the Division website. The most important objective of this training is to promote paperless society.
Invited speakers for the four-day training were both competent IT professors from Philippine Normal University(PNU). The first two days of INSET was allotted for teachers and the speaker was Dr. Alice O. Dioquino, former DICT head of PNU. Topics discussed were about ICT Integration using Computer-Aided Instruction (CAI), Creating WebQuest and Photo Story. Mr. Emilio F. Aguinaldo, programming and multimedia instructor from the said university handled the seminar-workshop for non-teaching personnel on the last days of INSET. He discussed topics about Computer Netiquettes, Mining the Internet through Browser, Using Online Communication tools like email and chat, and social networking sites.
